Director of Social Development in Aqaba, Hanan Al-Masha’aleh, stated that the campaign was carried out last night, particularly in commercial areas and near traffic lights. Six children were found begging at intersections and have been placed in juvenile care shelters.
Al-Masha’aleh urged the public to refrain from giving money to beggars—especially children—despite good intentions, as such actions may contribute to the continued exploitation of minors and encourage organized begging networks.
She emphasized that, instead of giving money directly to children or street beggars, donations should be directed to official bodies and accredited charities that provide genuine support and care for those in need.
