Eight decades ago, on May 25, 1946, the founding King, Abdullah I bin Al Hussein, proclaimed the Kingdom’s independence and sovereignty. Since then, Jordanians have moved forward steadfastly under the Hashemite banner to build a state of law and institutions, strengthening its foundations with determination, wisdom, and responsibility.

The anniversary of independence represents an opportunity for Jordanians to renew their commitment to preserving the nation’s achievements and resources, taking pride in a distinguished past while working to safeguard and enhance the present and build a more prosperous and advanced future, guided by the vision of His Majesty King Abdullah II.

Since independence, Jordan has worked to build modern state institutions, strengthen national unity, overcome regional and global crises, and develop its economic and social capacities. Over the past eight decades, the country has witnessed notable progress across various sectors while maintaining its security and stability despite regional and international challenges. Jordan has achieved significant milestones in education, healthcare, and infrastructure, while advancing living standards and sustainable development.

Under the wise leadership of King Abdullah II, Jordan has overcome numerous crises, including economic challenges imposed by regional circumstances, particularly refugee waves and geopolitical changes.

Since assuming his constitutional powers in 1999, King Abdullah II has preserved the legacy of his late father, King Hussein bin Talal, while enhancing Jordan’s standing on the international stage through active diplomacy. Jordan has played a pivotal role in many regional and international issues, with the King consistently serving as a strong voice for peace and stability in the region, earning the Kingdom broad international respect and recognition.

His Majesty has placed great importance on serving Arab causes, strengthening Arab unity, and defending the Palestinian cause—especially Jerusalem—as a Jordanian and Hashemite priority in pursuit of a just and comprehensive peace.

Alongside its national achievements, Jordan has become a refuge for those seeking safety and dignity, preserving human rights and freedoms while extending support to those in need from across the region, continuing to uphold its humanitarian responsibilities with determination and resilience.

Jordan has remained a leading model in the region, committed to its established political principles and advancing comprehensive development, supported by the unity of its people, the Jordan Armed Forces – Arab Army, and security agencies, which safeguard the nation and its achievements.

Under King Abdullah II’s leadership, Jordan continues its political and legislative modernization efforts rooted in democratic principles. The judicial system has developed into a model of integrity, transparency, and impartiality, reinforcing the rule of law. Parliamentary life and political participation have also advanced, while the King’s economic vision has promoted a free national economy, poverty and unemployment reduction, sustainable development, investment attraction, debt management, private sector empowerment, and social safety net expansion.

This progress has also extended to future technologies, entrepreneurship, and the Internet of Things, along with improved government services, under the follow-up of Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II. Jordan has also continued administrative reform efforts aimed at achieving development goals, empowering youth and women, and fostering new leadership within state institutions.
