The Southern Military Zone on Saturday foiled an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotics after detecting a drone carrying drugs as it was heading toward Jordanian territory.
Border Guard units, operating within their area of responsibility, detected and intercepted the drone, bringing it down inside Jordanian territory and seizing its cargo. The operation was carried out in coordination with the security and military agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department.
The seized items were handed over to the relevant authorities to complete the necessary legal and investigative procedures.
The Jordan Armed Forces–Arab Army reaffirmed its continued efforts to counter smuggling and infiltration operations using various methods and means, deploying its full operational and intelligence capabilities to address such threats. It stressed the readiness of Border Guard units to confront any threat targeting the security and stability of the Kingdom.
The Jordan Armed Forces also continues to take all necessary measures to protect the country’s borders and safeguard the Kingdom’s security and stability.
