Iranian Foreign Ministry: No One Can Say We Are Close to Reaching an Agreement
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stated that "no one can say we are close to reaching an agreement," referring to the ongoing negotiations with the United States regarding the nuclear deal.اضافة اعلان

Baghaei emphasized that Tehran is working toward achieving the "best solutions" that serve the country's interests.

He accused Washington of "constantly shifting its positions, sometimes within a few hours," stressing that "there are no guarantees" that the United States will honor its commitments.

He added that at "this stage," Iran is not focusing on the nuclear file but rather on "ending the war," noting that any proposed agreement includes a clause regarding the cessation of "aggression against Lebanon."

The Iranian spokesperson asserted that his country is indifferent to threats and will remain focused on securing its interests, warning that "every aggressive step will meet an Iranian response."

Regarding the Strait of Hormuz, Baghaei said that Tehran is in contact with littoral states along the strait "to ensure its security and protect its interests," arguing that "aggression" is the reason behind the strait's closure, and calling on the European Union to adhere to international laws.

Baghaei pointed out that "the changes witnessed in recent weeks" were the result of mediation by Pakistan and other nations.

Meanwhile, a senior US official told reporters on Sunday that the United States and Iran have agreed in principle on a deal that could lead to ending the war in the Middle East, though securing final approval from the leaders of both sides could take days.

The official explained, as reported by The New York Times, that the agreement would reopen the Strait of Hormuz and obligate Iran to dispose of its highly enriched uranium, noting that the mechanism for Tehran to do so is still being negotiated.

The official emphasized that the agreement has not yet been signed.

US President Donald Trump had previously insisted that the United States take possession of these materials, as part of his pledge to curb Iran's nuclear program.

Iranian leaders and state media have not commented publicly on the substance of any potential deal or the issues under discussion. Officials from both countries stated that any agreement would serve as a preliminary framework paving the way for subsequent negotiations, rather than a final settlement.
