The Eastern Military Zone thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotics into Jordan early Monday using guided balloons, the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army said.

Border Guard units detected the balloons, intercepted and brought them down inside Jordanian territory, and seized the drugs they were carrying in coordination with security and military agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department.
The seized materials were handed over to the relevant authorities to take the necessary legal measures.
The Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army reaffirmed its continued commitment to firmly confronting smuggling and infiltration attempts along the border, monitoring the various methods and means used to carry them out, and taking the necessary operational measures to thwart and respond to such attempts.
Border Guard units continue to carry out their duties to protect the Kingdom’s borders and prevent any attempts that could threaten its security and stability.
