Majed Al-Ansari, the spokesperson for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated on Tuesday that Qatar is coordinating closely with the Sultanate of Oman regarding the Strait of Hormuz and ensuring the safe passage of maritime vessels.

During a press conference, Al-Ansari confirmed that US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will meet with Qatari mediators in Doha to review ongoing negotiations between the United States and Iran.
He clarified, however, that no high-level meeting will take place directly between Washington and Tehran.
Furthermore, the spokesperson noted that the frozen Iranian funds, amounting to $6 billion, have not yet been transferred to Tehran. He emphasized that these funds remain subject to the 2023 agreement and are strictly designated for purchasing humanitarian goods.
Al-Ansari also revealed that a direct communication hotline is currently being utilized to defuse tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and contain the confrontations that erupted over the past few days.
