U.S. President Donald Trump held a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday as the United States prepares to resume strikes on Iran, according to The Wall Street Journal.
The newspaper, citing people familiar with the call, reported that Trump spoke with Netanyahu on Saturday morning, days after he held a meeting at the White House with his senior military commanders to discuss options for resuming major combat operations in the region.
The call comes as Trump seeks to rally Republican voters ahead of the midterm elections, while the war in the Middle East continues to affect fuel prices and dampen enthusiasm within the Republican Party, according to the newspaper.
