The Cybercrime Unit at the Public Security Directorate has warned against fake and suspicious pages and accounts, some of which are operated from outside the country, that spread rumors and misleading information with the aim of inciting discord, racial tensions and misleading public opinion.

In an awareness message posted on its social media accounts, the unit stressed that national security is a shared responsibility. It urged citizens not to believe everything published by accounts of unknown origin and to avoid sharing unverified news or posts intended to fuel tensions and discord.
The unit also stressed the need to immediately report fake and suspicious accounts and to obtain information exclusively from accredited official sources, while avoiding attempts to spread misinformation.
It warned that reposting false news or sharing content that incites discord and tensions could expose those responsible to legal accountability. The unit emphasized the importance of awareness and responsibility when dealing with content circulated on social media platforms.
