At an official ceremony hosted by San Marino’s Honorary Consul in Jordan, Samer Qawar, in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Raad bin Zeid, members of the royal family, Saudi Ambassador to Jordan His Royal Highness Prince Mansour bin Khalid Al Saud, and a number of ambassadors, senior officials and prominent figures, Qawar presented the order to Prince Mired on behalf of the presidency and government of San Marino.
In his remarks, Prince Mired expressed his gratitude to the presidency and government of San Marino for the honor, which he said he deeply valued. He dedicated the distinction to all persons with disabilities and reaffirmed his commitment to continuing his work in their service.
Prince Mired noted that persons with disabilities around the world still require greater efforts to support and empower them. He expressed his appreciation for his colleagues and for everyone working in the public and private sectors in a spirit of teamwork to provide comprehensive care for persons with disabilities, safeguard their civil rights, and ensure equal opportunities in education, employment, political participation and all other areas of life.
He said such efforts would strengthen their effective integration into society, under the support and guidance of His Majesty King Abdullah II for persons with disabilities.
Prince Mired also expressed his appreciation to Prince Raad bin Zeid and his late mother, Princess Majda Raad, for their constructive efforts over five decades in serving noble causes. He highlighted their significant role in guiding him toward public service and expressed hope that he could continue the path they had established.
Prince Mired said he looked forward to persons with disabilities soon enjoying the freedom to live, move and work in a fully inclusive environment. He also praised the support of his wife, Her Royal Highness Princess Dina Mired, as well as his children and family, for his efforts.
He renewed his thanks to his colleagues at the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the Hashemite Commission for Military Veterans, the National Committee for Demining and the Royal Academy for Inclusive Education for their efforts in advancing these causes.
For his part, Qawar said the order recognizes Prince Mired’s distinguished humanitarian career, his support for persons with disabilities, military veterans, mine victims and people affected by conflicts, as well as his pioneering efforts to advance global action against landmines and stand alongside their victims. He also highlighted the prince’s contributions to international cooperation.
Qawar expressed San Marino’s appreciation for Jordan’s role, under the leadership of King Abdullah II, in serving regional causes and for the Hashemite custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
He said these values are consistent with San Marino’s position in support of the rights of the Palestinian people and its belief that a just peace is the only path toward building a better future for the peoples of the region.
The Order of Saint Agatha at the rank of Commander is one of the Republic of San Marino’s highest official honors. It was awarded to Prince Mired in recognition of his humanitarian efforts.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Qawar extended his congratulations to Prince Mired, expressing hope that the order would remain a symbol of appreciation and gratitude and embody the longstanding bonds of brotherhood and friendship between the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Republic of San Marino.
