Youth Centers Football Championship Kicks Off

Jordan’s Minister of Youth, Dr. Raed Sami Al-Adwan, on Thursday inaugurated the 2026 Youth Centers Five-a-Side Football Championship, held by the Ministry of Youth across all governorates of the Kingdom.

Representing the Prime Minister, Al-Adwan attended the opening of the tournament, which features 658 teams and more than 7,000 players, coaches and administrators under the slogan: “Sport Brings Us Together… Volunteering Makes an Impact.”

Al-Adwan said the championship brings young people from all governorates together through sports and volunteer work, helping channel their energy and develop their skills. He noted that the ministry’s youth and sports programs seek to link sporting activities with volunteer initiatives that have a positive impact on local communities.

The championship aims to promote a sense of belonging and active citizenship among young people, strengthen the culture of volunteering by involving teams and participants in community-serving initiatives, and contribute to identifying sporting talent.

The competition will be held in three stages. The first round will take place at the district level from September 24 to 29, followed by the governorate-level round from September 30 to October 4. The final stage, at the Kingdom-wide level, will be held from October 5 to 10, 2026.

During the opening match between Al-Shawish United and Al-Merenghi, spectators held banners reading “No to Drugs,” in support of national efforts to combat the scourge of drugs and raise public awareness of its risks.
