Jordan on Tuesday condemned attacks by the Houthi group targeting civilian and economic facilities in the Saudi regions of Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan and Najran, which injured a number of civilians, as well as the continued targeting of commercial vessels in the Red Sea.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said the attacks constitute a “blatant violation” of Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and a threat to its security, stability and territorial integrity, as well as a “flagrant breach” of international law and the United Nations Charter. The attacks also pose a threat to the security and safety of maritime navigation, the ministry said.
The ministry reaffirmed Jordan’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures taken by the Kingdom to safeguard its security and stability, protect its resources, and ensure the safety of its citizens and residents.
The Saudi-led coalition announced that 73 civilians had been injured in attacks targeting civilian and economic sites in Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan and Najran. Meanwhile, the Saudi Ministry of Energy said energy facilities and infrastructure in the southern part of the Kingdom had been targeted, triggering fires, temporarily disrupting some operations and injuring a number of citizens and residents.
Saudi Arabia threatened to take the necessary measures to defend its territory, while the coalition warned of a “dangerous escalation” and called for measures to deter the Houthis.
