Safadi affirmed Jordan’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia in confronting attacks by the Houthi terrorist militia, expressing Jordan’s complete support for all measures Saudi Arabia takes to protect its security, stability, sovereignty, and the safety of its citizens and residents.

He reiterated Jordan’s condemnation of Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia and their targeting of civilians, as well as civilian and economic facilities, describing them as a flagrant violation of international law and the United Nations Charter and a blatant infringement of Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty, security, and stability.

Safadi and Prince Faisal also discussed regional developments and efforts to end the escalation, contain its regional and international repercussions, and restore calm on foundations that ensure lasting security and stability, respect for international law and good-neighborly relations, non-interference in states’ affairs, and freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandab.

Safadi thanked Prince Faisal for the care extended by Saudi Arabia to Jordanian citizens injured in the Houthi militia’s terrorist attack on King Khalid International Airport on October 10, 2026.

The two ministers reaffirmed their commitment to developing cooperation between the two kingdoms across various fields, reflecting their deep-rooted historical ties and implementing the directives of their respective leaders.
Amended protocol signed to establish Supreme Coordination Council
In this context, Safadi and Prince Faisal signed an amended protocol to the minutes establishing the Jordanian Saudi Supreme Coordination Council. King Abdullah II and the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, witnessed the signing of the original document in Riyadh in 2016. The council aims to strengthen cooperation and coordination across various fields in ways that serve the interests of both countries and their peoples.

The amended protocol updates the council’s organizational structure and seeks to strengthen its role in institutionalizing and expanding cooperation and coordination between the two countries.

The council is chaired by King Abdullah II and Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

The foreign ministers of both countries will head the council’s general secretariat, while the two foreign ministries will oversee its work, including preparations for council meetings and those of its committees and working groups.

The Supreme Coordination Council will replace the Jordanian-Saudi Joint Committee.

The amended protocol was signed amid continued growth in economic relations between the two countries. Bilateral trade exceeded $4 billion in 2025, accounting for 14% of Jordan’s total trade and making Saudi Arabia Jordan’s second-largest trading partner.

Saudi investment in Jordan reached approximately $16 billion across sectors including transport, tourism, financial services, and trade.

The number of Saudi tourists visiting Jordan in 2025 increased by approximately 14% compared with 2024.

Safadi and Prince Faisal underscored the importance of the amended protocol in giving fresh momentum to cooperation between the two kingdoms.

The two ministers also emphasized the need to maintain coordination and consultation on various regional and international issues of mutual interest.
