Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Friday morning that he had instructed “security forces to impose a siege on the city of Hebron and completely close the West Bank.”
“Our forces prevented a large-scale attack in the West Bank,” Netanyahu said.
He added: “We will pursue Hamas operatives and those behind them everywhere and at all times.”
The statements came after two Palestinians carried out a shooting attack near Hebron that injured six Israelis. The Israeli occupation army killed the two attackers immediately afterward.
Earlier Friday, the Israeli occupation army said: “We killed two people who took part in carrying out the shooting, and we imposed a siege on Palestinian villages while search operations are still underway.”
The army said its chief of staff had ordered additional forces to be deployed in the Central Command area.
It added: “The chief of staff approved the imposition of a complete security cordon around the city of Hebron and additional villages.”
The army continued: “We have imposed a comprehensive security cordon around the city of Hebron.”
