Hebrew media reported Friday morning that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had asked his party to cancel all election-related activities following a shooting attack in Hebron, south of the occupied West Bank.
Later in the morning, Netanyahu said he had instructed “security forces to impose a siege on the city of Hebron and completely close the West Bank.”
“Our forces prevented a large-scale attack in the West Bank,” Netanyahu said.
He also threatened: “We will pursue Hamas operatives and those behind them everywhere and at all times.”
The statements came after two Palestinians carried out a shooting attack near Hebron that injured six Israelis. The Israeli occupation army killed the two attackers shortly afterward.
