Jordan’s 2026 Population and Housing Census will begin on Thursday and continue through October 31, according to a schedule approved by the Cabinet.

The census will begin with a three-day electronic self-enumeration phase during the first three days of October, followed by field enumeration to reach households and residences across the Kingdom and complete data collection.
Under a plan prepared by the Department of Statistics, a dedicated electronic link for self-enumeration will be sent through the Sanad application to people who have previously expressed an interest in completing their data themselves and provided the department with their phone numbers for this purpose. The system will allow them to complete information about their households and residences electronically.
After the self-enumeration phase ends on October 3, field enumeration will begin on October 4, involving around 12,000 field researchers from the Department of Statistics, teachers from the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development, and employees of institutions participating in the census.
The census will cover all people and housing units in the Kingdom, including citizens and residents, with the aim of providing comprehensive, accurate and up-to-date data on the population and housing sector. The data will serve as a basis for planning, policymaking and decision-making across various sectors.
The Department of Statistics will use a modern digital system to collect and process census data. It called on citizens and residents to cooperate with field researchers and provide the requested information accurately.
The department stressed that all information provided will be treated with strict confidentiality. It urged households to verify the identity of field researchers through their official census identification cards, which carry an electronic verification code.
The census aims to provide an updated picture of population and housing conditions in the Kingdom, helping identify actual needs and plan services and projects in sectors including education, healthcare, housing, transportation, infrastructure and public services.
