King Abdullah will travel to the House of Representatives aboard the Red Motorcade, wearing the Royal Attire of the Throne, both of which are longstanding royal traditions marking the opening of the National Assembly.
The Red Motorcade consists of 20 classic open-top four-wheel-drive Land Rover vehicles belonging to the Royal Hashemite Court, accompanied by 10 red motorcycles.
The vehicles will carry 71 members of the Royal Guard wearing official military uniforms, with red keffiyehs and agals bearing the emblem of the Arab Army, along with red sashes across their chests.
The King wears the Royal Attire of the Throne on only two occasions: the day of his accession to the throne and the day he delivers the Royal Speech from the Throne.
The Royal Attire comes in two colors, white and black. The King wears the black attire in winter and the white attire in summer.
Following the Royal Speech, the Senate will hold a session to complete the procedures for selecting the two deputy speakers and their assistants.
The Senate will also elect a committee tasked with drafting the official response to the Royal Speech from the Throne, which will then be submitted to the Royal Court in accordance with constitutional procedures.
A session of the House of Representatives will then be held to select its speaker, either through a ballot or by consensus, with a single candidate being elected by acclamation.
Four lawmakers have announced their intention to run for the speakership: Dr. Ibrahim Al-Tarawneh, the candidate of the Mithaq Bloc; Mujahim Al-Saqour, a member of the Mithaq Bloc; Dr. Mustafa Al-Khasawneh, the candidate of the Mubadara Party Bloc; and Dr. Suleiman Al-Zaben, the candidate of the Centrist and Reform Parties Bloc.
After the speaker is elected, the House of Representatives will complete its permanent bureau by electing the two deputy speakers and their assistants.
The House will then name a committee to draft its response to the Royal Speech, following the same procedure adopted by the Senate.
