Jordan’s Ministry of Labor spokesperson Mohammad Al-Zyoud confirmed that enrollment in Social Security does not exempt non-Jordanian workers from obtaining a work permit and does not serve as a substitute for one under any circumstances.اضافة اعلان

Al-Zyoud explained that Social Security enrollment is a legal requirement intended to provide workers with insurance protection, while a work permit is the official document issued by the Ministry of Labor that legally authorizes non-Jordanian workers to work in the Kingdom in accordance with the Labor Law and the regulations and instructions issued under it.

He said that anyone who does not hold a Jordanian national number and enters the labor market is required to obtain a valid work permit, with the exception of children of Jordanian women.

Al-Zyoud stressed that having a Social Security number does not protect a worker from legal action if they are found working without a permit. The ministry’s inspection teams continue to conduct field inspections to verify compliance by workers and employers and take legal action against violators, whether workers or employers.

He urged non-Jordanian workers and employers to take the necessary steps to regularize their status and obtain or renew work permits in order to protect their rights and avoid legal action and deportation.

He also affirmed that the ministry is continuing its efforts to regulate and protect the labor market, safeguard the rights of all parties involved in production, and enhance employment opportunities for Jordanians.
