The U.S. Central Command on Friday denied claims by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps that it had destroyed a U.S. military maritime drone in the Strait of Hormuz, calling the claim “completely false.”
In a statement, U.S. Central Command said the IRGC claimed on Thursday to have destroyed a U.S. military maritime drone in the Strait of Hormuz, noting that the claim was part of a series of falsehoods circulated by the IRGC during the current week.
The command confirmed that all U.S. Navy military unmanned surface vessels operating in the Middle East remain present and fully accounted for, including a fleet of advanced unmanned vessels conducting patrols in the Strait of Hormuz.
It added that the vessels continue their patrols in support of the U.S. Central Command’s defensive operations.
