US President Donald Trump said Thursday that Iran would soon join the United States’ list of victories, similar to Venezuela, asserting that Tehran had suffered a severe defeat and that he would end the war with Iran soon.

Trump added that the United States had eliminated Iran’s air and naval capabilities and that only a small number of missiles remained. He also said Iran was facing difficulties producing drones due to disruptions to its electricity supply.
Trump stressed that the United States would not allow Iran to possess nuclear weapons, arguing that Iran had started the conflict in 1979, when it killed a large number of Americans.
Earlier, The Wall Street Journal reported that US Vice President J.D. Vance had sent a message to Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, in an effort to revive peace talks and avoid a new US attack on Iran.
The newspaper quoted a source as saying the message was sent at the direction of President Donald Trump. It added that the message and subsequent discussions between US and Iranian officials focused on establishing a potential framework for negotiations rather than addressing specific details of a peace proposal.
