U.S. President Donald Trump said a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will take place “very soon.”

Trump made the remarks to reporters at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland on Tuesday evening as he returned from an election rally in Texas.
Trump said he had discussed the Russia-Ukraine war and the Iran issue with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and his special envoy, Steve Witkoff.
“We are making significant progress on Russia and Ukraine. There will be a meeting very soon with the leaders of Russia and Ukraine,” Trump said.
He indicated that Putin and Zelensky would participate in the meeting but provided no details about its date, location or format.
Russia has been waging war against Ukraine since February 24, 2022. Moscow has demanded that Kyiv abandon plans to join Western military alliances, a condition Ukraine considers interference in its affairs.
Regarding Iran, Trump claimed that Tehran wants to reach an agreement with Washington, suggesting that it may be waiting for the U.S. congressional midterm elections scheduled for November 3.
“They wanted to make a deal, but they like to drag out the process. Maybe they are waiting for the election or something else, but that will not benefit them,” he said.
Asked whether the United States might launch new attacks on Iran after the midterm elections, Trump replied: “Anything is possible, but I can’t tell you anything.”
On February 28, the United States and Israel launched a war against Iran, while Tehran responded with attacks on Israel and what it described as U.S. military facilities in Arab countries.
On June 18, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding and began negotiations that later collapsed over several disagreements, including navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic route for global energy and goods supplies.
