Iran is preparing to unveil a new weapon that it has described as the “father of all bombs,” Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps spokesman Hossein Mohebbi said on Wednesday.
His comments on Iran’s military capabilities were reported by Iran’s Young Journalists Club news agency.
Mohebbi said the United States had previously used the “Mother of All Bombs,” adding: “We are now preparing to unveil the father of all bombs. This is something new for the enemy.” He provided no further details about the weapon.
On Friday, U.S. President Donald Trump hinted at the possible use of the GBU-43/B, known as the “Mother of All Bombs,” against Iranian nuclear facilities.
The GBU-43/B weighs approximately 9,800 kilograms and is one of the largest non-nuclear conventional bombs in the U.S. arsenal.
It was first used in April 2017, during Trump’s first presidency, against a tunnel complex operated by the Islamic State group in Afghanistan.
Without providing a specific figure, Mohebbi said the number of Iranian missiles had increased by one and a half times following the confrontation between Israel and Iran that began in June 2025 and lasted 12 days.
He added that the quality of Iran’s missiles had improved significantly, along with their range, destructive capability and accuracy in hitting targets.
On February 28, Israel and the United States launched a war against Iran, while Tehran responded with attacks on Israel and what it described as U.S. military facilities in Arab countries.
Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding in June and subsequently began negotiations that later collapsed over disagreements concerning freedom of navigation and security in the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic route for energy and commodity supplies.
