Israeli occupation forces continued their assault on Hebron Governorate, escalating raids, arrests and forced displacement. The number of families forcibly displaced from their homes has risen to 537, while more than 780 families have been affected by the assault, which has imposed a blockade on areas of the governorate and disrupted educational and economic life.
Israeli forces deployed military reinforcements to the Deir Bahha area west of Hebron after forcing dozens of families to flee, while raiding homes and vandalizing their contents. Around 5,000 Palestinians are facing conditions of siege and forced displacement, either after being forced to leave their homes or confined inside them, particularly in the Al-Jalda and Deir Bahha areas, which are under a strict closure.
According to the Palestinian News and Information Agency (WAFA), Israeli forces have arrested more than 115 Palestinians from Hebron city since the beginning of the assault, including a girl. Hundreds of Palestinians have also been detained and subjected to abuse.
Economically, the Hebron Chamber of Commerce estimated direct losses resulting from the closures at between 10 million and 12 million shekels per day, including around 1 million shekels in the dairy sector alone.
The assault also disrupted education for around 262,000 students in 589 schools across the governorate last week. Thousands of students in besieged and displaced areas remain unable to reach their schools.
In a related development, Israeli forces verbally ordered the owners of a tile showroom in the Farsh Al-Hawa area west of Hebron to evacuate the premises within 24 hours, reportedly in preparation for its demolition. A military bulldozer was brought to the area, and Palestinians were forced to leave.
