CNN, citing informed sources, reported that U.S. President Donald Trump is increasingly giving serious consideration to resuming military operations against Iran, compared with previous weeks, amid escalating tensions between the two sides.
According to the sources, Trump has grown increasingly impatient over the continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical maritime routes for global energy shipments, which has intensified economic pressure and raised concerns about a worsening crisis.
The sources added that Iran’s latest response to the proposals on the table has led U.S. officials to question whether Tehran is prepared to adopt a serious negotiating stance with Washington, as talks remain stalled.
In a related development, the sources noted that Trump’s close advisers want Pakistani mediators to be more direct in their communications with the Iranian side, in an effort to push negotiations toward tangible results.
