Zarqa Government Hospital has achieved a significant medical milestone following the completion of its new open-heart surgery department. The hospital successfully performed its first-ever open-heart surgery on a patient in his fifties who was suffering from heart muscle weakness. Thanks to God, the patient has fully recovered and has been discharged from the hospital.

This achievement—the first of its kind across all health sectors in the Zarqa Governorate—comes in implementation of the directives of Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan. During his visit to the hospital, the Prime Minister ordered the establishment of a specialized open-heart surgery department. This initiative aims to elevate the healthcare services provided to the residents of Zarqa and ease the burden on patients who previously had to travel to hospitals in the capital, Amman, to receive this type of treatment.
The open-heart surgery department is one of the vital medical units that will contribute to enhancing the quality of healthcare in the governorate, providing advanced, specialized therapeutic services to citizens right within Zarqa.
Furthermore, the hospital's development efforts included carrying out maintenance and upgrades across several facilities. Additionally, the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) project site was officially handed over to the contractor to initiate the addition of 27 new ICU beds within four months, in line with the Prime Minister's directives to boost the hospital's readiness and improve the efficiency of the medical services provided.
