Dr. Kifah Abu Tarboush, Director General of Prince Hamzah Hospital, told the Jordanian Petra News Agency on Wednesday that the procedures were conducted under the leadership of Dr. Yahya Al-Budaina, Consultant in Cardiac Electrophysiology, in coordination with pediatric cardiologists. The operations took place over the past two days and were all completely successful without any complications.
Dr. Abu Tarboush noted that performing these procedures without complications represents a significant advancement in catheter-based and interventional treatment for pediatric heart diseases in the Ministry of Health, highlighting the high competence and expertise of the national medical staff in handling delicate and complex cases.
He added that this achievement marks a pioneering step, reinforcing the hospital’s position as a national center for advanced specialized pediatric cardiac catheterization, and paving the way for developing further advanced treatment programs in this critical field.
Dr. Abu Tarboush emphasized that these procedures were performed for the first time in the Kingdom for children of such young ages. Cardiac electrophysiology is a rare specialty, and pediatric cardiac ablations are conducted exclusively at Prince Hamzah Hospital.
While the hospital had previously performed cardiac electrophysiology procedures on adults, the uniqueness of this achievement lies in treating very young children starting from 15 months old, marking a medical first for this type of precise procedure.
He praised the efforts of the medical team involved, including Dr. Al-Budaina, as well as the anesthesia and nursing teams, whose expertise contributed to the success of this distinguished medical achievement.
Dr. Al-Budaina confirmed that this type of procedure is being performed for the first time in the Kingdom for such young patients, noting that the outcomes were highly precise and successful.
He explained that the four procedures included children aged 15 months, 3 years, 4 years, and 7 years, all in good health, and commended the supporting medical team and hospital staff for their skill and experience in achieving this specialized medical milestone.
