Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said cooperation between Kyiv and Washington on drone production will include the construction of a manufacturing facility in the United States to produce drones using advanced Ukrainian technology.
In an interview with U.S. conservative blogger Laura Loomer on Friday, Zelenskyy said Ukraine is eager to move quickly in implementing a preliminary drone agreement reached with Washington.
He noted that drone technology is evolving rapidly, adding that Ukrainian drones are now capable of flying more than 3,000 kilometers, with expectations that future models will achieve even greater ranges.
Speaking in the interview, which was published on X, Zelenskyy said, “Technology is important. That is what we have. America also has outstanding technology. Our drone agreement is beneficial for both sides.”
He added, “We will build a large factory in the United States. We want to establish production lines.”
In Washington, a source familiar with the matter said the details of the agreement are still being finalized ahead of talks between Zelenskyy and U.S. President Donald Trump, which a White House official said are scheduled to take place on Tuesday.
On Friday, the Kremlin said Russia believes President Trump is sincere in his efforts to end the war in Ukraine and that Moscow will wait for new proposals from Washington, despite the continued U.S. supply of weapons to Kyiv.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia would continue military operations until it achieves its objectives.
Asked by a state television reporter whether Moscow was prepared to wait longer for new U.S. proposals after previous diplomatic efforts had failed, Peskov replied, “Yes. Fighting is not the preferred path, but in the absence of prospects for peace, we will continue to fight until the end, until complete victory. Nevertheless, we will await new proposals from the United States.”
