Jordan's electronic National Service platform was reactivated on Sunday to allow citizens to check whether they had been selected for military service from among those born in 2008. The move coincided with an electronic lottery to select 9,000 young men to join the programme next year.اضافة اعلان

Rami Al-Rawashdeh, Director of Digital Transformation and Empowerment at the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, said notifications would be sent through the Sanad application and via text messages to selected individuals and their families, informing them of the lottery results and the instructions for joining the programme.

Al-Rawashdeh explained that the random sample was generated using an electronic algorithm developed by the ministry's technical teams. The process underwent the necessary testing and verification to ensure data integrity, accuracy, security and the reliability of the results.

The lottery covers 9,000 individuals born in 2008, divided into three groups of 3,000 young men each, under a mechanism that takes population distribution across the Kingdom's governorates into account.

On Thursday, Government Communications Minister and government spokesperson Mohammad Al-Momani announced that the number of participants in the National Service Programme next year would increase by 50% to 9,000, compared with 6,000 this year.

Al-Momani said young men born in 2008 who have turned 18 would undergo a selection process to join the programme. He explained that selection would take place through an electronic lottery based on neutral statistical drawing and computerised random selection.

He added that the names of those selected would be announced at noon on Sunday through officially approved channels, without publishing the names in the media.

The Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship is responsible for conducting the lottery in coordination with the Jordan Armed Forces–Arab Army and the Civil Status and Passports Department.

Meanwhile, Brigadier General Mohammad Al-Muhaيدات, Director of Military Media at the Jordan Armed Forces, said the National Service period lasts three months. He added that the law stipulates imprisonment for a period of no less than six months and no more than one year for anyone who fails to report for service without a legitimate excuse.

He said the armed forces had developed their training, administrative and logistical plans to accommodate the increased number of participants while maintaining training quality and operational efficiency.

The programme includes two main components: a field-based military track covering physical and military training and basic skills, and an educational and awareness track designed to strengthen citizenship and discipline while familiarising young people with labour market conditions and requirements.

Al-Muhaيدات noted that participants receive their training at the National Service Training Centre in accordance with approved military programmes and instructions, with medical services and necessary care provided throughout the training period.
