Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has announced that it has lifted restrictions on the range of its ballistic missiles, signalling that the country may seek to develop missiles capable of striking targets farther afield amid growing fears of a renewed full-scale war.اضافة اعلان

The remarks by the spokesperson for the IRGC, a paramilitary force, came days after Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, warned that “any type or level of threat” from the United States or Israel would be met with a response extending beyond geographical boundaries.

Asked at a press conference in Tehran about the maximum range of Iran's missiles, Brigadier General Hossein Mohabi said: “This restriction has been lifted for us.”

Iran is not known to possess missiles with a range exceeding 2,000 kilometres. However, US officials say the technology used in Iran's space programme could give the country the capability to develop intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs).
