Jordan’s insurance sector continued to post positive growth during the first five months of 2026, with total insurance premiums increasing alongside rising demand for health and motor insurance, while claims payments also climbed, according to data released by the Central Bank of Jordan.

The figures show that total written insurance premiums reached nearly JD 418 million, marking an 8.8% increase compared with the same period last year, when premiums totaled JD 384 million.

At the same time, the sector experienced higher liabilities as total claims paid rose to approximately JD 250 million, representing a 10.6% increase from JD 226 million during the corresponding period of 2025.

Health insurance accounted for the largest share of premiums, generating JD 168 million during the first five months of 2026, up from JD 144 million a year earlier. Motor insurance ranked second, with premiums totaling JD 116 million, compared with JD 111 million during the same period in 2025.

Motor insurance also represented the largest category of claims paid, totaling JD 115 million, slightly lower than the JD 117 million recorded in the corresponding period last year. Meanwhile, health insurance claims increased to JD 97 million, up from JD 83 million during the January–May period of 2025.

The Central Bank’s data also showed a significant improvement in customer complaints. The total number of complaints fell by more than 50% to 271, compared with 552 during the same period last year. Most complaints—251—were related to motor insurance.

Meanwhile, the number of completed settlements rose by 145% to 169, including 155 settlements in the motor insurance sector.
