The embassy urged US citizens to avoid traveling to Aqaba International Airport or the seaport, and to continue following all security directives issued by Jordanian authorities.
Additionally, the embassy renewed its recommendation to avoid traveling to military bases in Jordan, noting that the US Department of State had ordered non-emergency US government personnel and their family members to leave Jordan on March 2, 2026, due to security risks.
The embassy requested that Americans follow several precautionary measures, including avoiding demonstrations and large gatherings, staying away from areas with a heavy security presence, monitoring local media, and complying with instructions from Jordanian authorities.
It also advised travelers to contact airlines directly for flight details in case of any changes, and urged caution in public places associated with the United States while keeping a low profile.
The embassy urged US citizens to enroll in the Department of State's Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive the latest security updates and facilitate communication in emergencies.
