AMMAN — Chairman of the capital governorate council, Ahmad Al-Abdalat, said on Sunday that the decentralization law will give citizens agency to set their priorities and needs, ensure an equitable distribution of development gains across the Kingdom, and serve people and the society by providing better healthcare, education and better services in Amman, which “are among the most important reasons that made me proceed with it”, according to Al-Mamlaka TV.اضافة اعلان

Abdalat added that “we are asking for legal amendments; to that end, a legal committee will be formed in the capital council, and a full draft of an amendment will be submitted”.

“The task of the provincial council members used to be only approving the budget, so we asked for legal amendments, and some important amendments were made, which improved the standing of the provincial council,” he added.

He pointed out that a member of the provincial council is currently preparing, and approving or rejecting the budget by-law.

Irbid Governorate Council Chairman Khaldoun Bani Hani said that the new law is “modern and serves all segments and institutions of the governorate, in general”, adding that “the budget is not determined by the provincial council, but rather comes to us from the general budget, with a specific cap”.
