According to the ministry’s statement:

Based on information that a factory in Al-Mafraq—located on the Jaber Highway near Ruba‘ al-Sarhan Camp—was illegally tapping into an 8-inch main water line intended for drinking water, the Internal Control Unit, in cooperation with Yarmouk Water Company / Al-Mafraq Water Department, conducted an on-site campaign on Saturday, August 23, 2025.

Authorities discovered a 1-inch extension pipe buried 4 meters underground and covered with asphalt, drawing water continuously at a rate of 120 cubic meters per day to supply the factory. The illegal connection was removed, and efforts are ongoing to assess the volume of water illegally extracted over the past six months and prepare the official reports for legal action.

The Ministry / Water Authority emphasized that it will continue monitoring campaigns across the Kingdom to protect water resources and water-sector property, urging citizens to report any suspicious activity via the hotline: 117116.
