Iran's chief negotiator and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said on Wednesday that the American vote amounted to a rejection of war, following the Democrats' victory over Republicans in the US midterm elections.

In a post on the social media platform X, Ghalibaf wrote: "Whether out of conviction or because of the cost of living, Americans said: No to war, and we support this message."
The Democratic Party secured control of both the Senate and the House of Representatives, according to projections by Decision Desk HQ and media outlets, ending four years in the congressional minority after flipping several seats previously held by Republicans. The outcome represents a political setback for President Donald Trump and the Republican Party.
Election results and projections showed Democrats making gains in congressional races amid growing public dissatisfaction with the US administration's performance, economic conditions and rising prices. Many voters viewed the elections as an opportunity to express their opposition to Trump and his policies.
