In the first case, at the Jaber border crossing, and in cooperation with Jordan Customs and other security agencies, authorities grew suspicious of a cargo truck entering the Kingdom. The vehicle and its Arab driver were detained, and upon inspection, 600,000 narcotic pills were discovered hidden inside its tires, concealed within iron rings.
In the second case at the same crossing, an individual aroused suspicion while moving around the border facilities. He was apprehended, and under questioning, confessed to bringing in two bags containing 150,000 narcotic pills, which he had hidden in an outdoor yard before reaching the inspection points. In coordination with Jordan Customs and security services, the two bags were recovered along with their contents.
In Aqaba Governorate, a special investigative team from the Anti-Narcotics Department pursued intelligence about an individual suspected of ties to regional drug-smuggling gangs. The team verified the information and discovered that the suspect had received large quantities of hashish, which he had hidden in preparation for trafficking. He was arrested, and investigations led authorities to a remote, uninhabited area where the drugs were concealed. A total of 189 packages of hashish were seized along with a sum of money.
All cases have been referred to the State Security Court prosecutor.
