A ceasefire is currently in effect in the Gaza Strip under an agreement reached in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, on October 9, mediated by Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, with U.S. participation, following two years of Israeli military operations.

Despite the agreement, Israel has continued airstrikes and artillery shelling in Gaza, while keeping the Rafah crossing between the Palestinian territory and Egypt closed. Aid trucks remain waiting on the Egyptian side of the crossing.
