WASHINGTON — White House national security
spokesperson John Kirby stated that Hamas maintains a “significant force
posture” inside Gaza, and a military attack by Israel will not be able to
eliminate the resistance group.

He added that Hamas still possesses significant capabilities
in the
Gaza Strip. Kirby noted ongoing and serious negotiations for the release
of hostages from Gaza. "We will work to maintain the
US military presence in the Middle East," Kirby affirmed, emphasizing that
President Joe Biden continues to receive briefings on the evolving situation in the Middle East.
Kirby underscored, "We do not want the war between
Israel and Hamas to escalate in the region."
Additionally, he stated, "We have no indications of
Israel's involvement in the recent explosion in Iran." In conclusion,
Kirby clarified, "We had no direct or indirect connection to the recent
attack in Beirut."
