An Iranian military official stated on Tuesday that a renewal of the war with the United States is "inevitable," given Washington's insistence on Tehran's "surrender" in the confrontation that began in late February.

Mohammad Ja'far Asadi, speaking from the Iranian Armed Forces' Central Operations Room, said: "The United States is demanding our complete surrender, and the Iranian nation will never surrender."
According to state television, he added: "Without surrender, war is inevitable. Therefore, we are waiting, and war will not intimidate us."
Iran and the United States have been engaged in talks facilitated by a Pakistan-led mediation effort in an attempt to bring an end to the war.
Meanwhile, a source close to the Iranian negotiating team told the Mehr News Agency on Tuesday that Iran has not yet responded to a proposal for a final agreement with the United States aimed at ending their conflict. The source noted that discussions regarding the final text are still underway in Tehran.
The source explained that Iran is reviewing the proposal cautiously, given what it views as a history of non-compliance by the United States, as well as the deep-seated lack of trust between the two sides.
