The Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Tuesday that it had shot down an American drone that entered Iran's airspace, and opened fire on a fighter jet and another drone that had also breached it.

According to an IRGC statement published on Sepah News, "The air defense units of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (...) managed to detect and shoot down an MQ-9 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)" belonging to the US military.
The statement added that its units "forced an intruding F-35 fighter jet and an RQ-4 reconnaissance drone to flee and exit Iranian airspace by opening fire on them," without specifying the exact date of the incident.
Previously, the United States announced that it had launched strikes on Monday against missile launch sites in southern Iran and boats attempting to plant mines, jeopardizing a fragile ceasefire and raising doubts about the potential to reach an agreement to end the war with Iran.
The strikes came as senior Iranian negotiators arrived in Doha for the latest round of talks aimed at ending the months-long conflict, and amid an escalation of hostilities by the Israeli occupation military in southern Lebanon.
"US forces conducted defensive strikes in southern Iran today to protect our forces from threats posed by Iranian forces," said US Central Command (CENTCOM) spokesperson Tim Hawkins in a statement.
