Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Saturday rejected remarks by Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, who described Lebanon as a bargaining chip in Tehran’s hands.
Aoun had said on Friday that Iran was using Lebanon as a bargaining card in its negotiations with the United States and that the Lebanese people were paying the price for Iranian interests.
In a post on X, Araghchi wrote: “If Lebanon were a bargaining chip for Iran, we would have reached an agreement long ago.”
He added: “Mr. President, save Lebanon from your real enemy.”
