The call comes as high school students continue their demonstrations and protests, including school closures, demanding better educational conditions.

In this regard, Sophie Binet, Secretary-General of the General Confederation of Labour (CGT), told France 2 that contract teachers, retirees, young people, and education sector workers would join the strike scheduled for November 5.

Binet added that participants would demand higher wages and a review of the government budget.

Meanwhile, six prominent education unions issued a joint statement urging teachers to take part in the nationwide strike on November 5.

Since September 17, high school students across France have been staging protests calling for improvements to educational conditions.

Students' demands include increasing the number of teachers, equipping school buildings with insulation and air-conditioning systems, reducing class sizes, and allocating additional funding to the education sector.

While education unions support the high school students' protests, they are also calling for higher wages for sector employees and revisions to the government budget.
