The Ministry’s official spokesperson, Omar Salameh, confirmed that 26.5 million dinars have been allocated for improving water networks, and an additional 43 million dinars for wastewater projects.

Salameh told Al-Ghad that these allocations will fund a package of projects under the Executive Program for Economic Modernization in Amman, aimed at improving water and wastewater services and expanding coverage to all areas of the capital in line with the population’s growing needs.

He explained that the water projects include upgrading existing networks in most parts of the capital, rehabilitating wells and existing stations, and improving and expanding current water networks to cover new areas previously not serviced.

He added that the projects also include rehabilitating major water stations such as the Wadi Al-Seer Spring Treatment Plant and the Umm Rumaneh Station, in addition to replacing pumps and boosters with modern ones to improve operational efficiency and reduce water loss.

Salameh stressed that these projects will continue throughout 2025 and 2026, reflecting the Ministry’s commitment to serving citizens and strengthening sustainability in the water sector.

He indicated that wastewater projects will proceed in parallel with water projects and include constructing new networks to cover additional areas, with the aim of improving service levels and boosting environmental sustainability.

These projects include implementing networks in northern Amman areas such as Shafa Badran 1 and 2, as well as Al-Mansour and Umm Haleifiyah housing areas, and designing a new line for the Ain Ghazal–Al-Samra Plant, in addition to other decentralized projects in these regions.

He emphasized that these projects are not limited to expansion and rehabilitation, but also involve focused efforts to reduce losses and enhance operational efficiency, thereby strengthening the system’s ability to meet residents’ needs effectively and ensuring optimal use of national water resources.

Salameh noted that these projects form part of national efforts to strengthen essential infrastructure in the capital, support sustainable economic development, and improve citizens’ quality of life by providing high-level water and wastewater services and expanding coverage to previously underserved areas.

He added that the Ministry continues to work according to a clear and well-studied plan focused on innovation and modernization in all aspects of water and wastewater services, ensuring the achievement of sustainable development goals and optimal investment of national resources.

Salameh reaffirmed the Ministry’s full commitment to continue its development projects across the capital and provide the best services to citizens, reflecting its dedication to improving quality of life, promoting environmental sustainability, and achieving balanced urban development in Amman.

Prime Minister Dr. Jaafar Hassan previously confirmed that the service and development projects included in the capital governorate’s development vision involve implementing major water sector projects across all areas of Amman at a total value of about 300 million dinars, expected to be completed within three years.

During the monthly Cabinet session held in late October in the capital, Hassan emphasized that the government will exert doubled efforts in accordance with the King’s directives, focusing on national priorities and investing resources to boost the resilience of the national economy, achieve sustainable growth, and create new job opportunities for youth—stressing that these goals are the government’s highest priority, and all efforts are dedicated to fully achieving them.
