Russian negotiator Kirill Dmitriev told local media, “There is undeniable progress; things are moving in the right direction,” while criticizing what he described as European attempts “to obstruct the process.”

Dmitriev, Putin’s investment envoy who has played a key role in U.S.-mediated negotiations on Ukraine, said that “war advocates” from Europe and Britain “constantly try to interfere in the peace process.”

He added to journalists before the talks began: “The more these attempts occur, the more we see that progress is definitely being made.”

He also noted that efforts are underway to restore relations with the United States, including through the U.S.-Russia economic working group.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Pruitt participated in the previous working group meeting held in Miami on January 31, alongside Dmitriev, Steve Witkoff—an envoy of former U.S. President Donald Trump—and Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law.
