A report published by The Wall Street Journal revealed that US President Donald Trump’s personal physician is required to remain close enough to reach the president within no more than three minutes at all times, as part of ongoing medical care arrangements amid growing interest in Trump’s health as the oldest elected president in US history.اضافة اعلان

Dr. Sean Barbabella, a military physician who served in Afghanistan before taking up his position at the White House, oversees the health of the 80-year-old president, conducts his medical examinations and prepares official reports on his condition.

A source familiar with Barbabella’s routine at the White House told The Wall Street Journal that aides would usually leave the room during consultations between the doctor and Trump, describing the physician’s approach to the president as “calm and direct.”

Although round-the-clock medical care is considered a routine precaution, what stands out in Trump’s case is that medical reports issued by Barbabella have consistently praised the president’s health.

In a report released in May 2026, the doctor said an artificial intelligence-assisted electrocardiogram analysis estimated Trump’s cardiac age at around 14 years younger than his actual age, describing this as an indication of strong cardiovascular health.

Although Barbabella recommended that Trump lose weight, modify his diet, increase his physical activity and reduce his aspirin dosage, his report concluded that the president was in excellent health.

“President Trump continues to enjoy excellent health, with strong cardiac, pulmonary and neurological function, as well as overall physical performance,” Barbabella said.

He added: “His busy daily schedule, which includes high-level meetings, public events and regular physical activity, continues to contribute to his overall health. His mental and physical performance is excellent. He remains fully fit to perform all his duties as commander-in-chief of the armed forces and head of state.”

The statements recall previous medical reports that praised Trump’s physical abilities. In 2015, his then-personal physician, Harold Bornstein, issued a statement describing Trump’s physical strength and stamina as “extraordinary,” saying he would be “the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency of the United States.”

Bornstein later acknowledged in a 2018 interview with CNN that Trump had dictated the entire statement to him. Bornstein died in 2021.

Questions extend beyond the content of Trump’s medical reports to whether the president follows his doctors’ recommendations. At a rally in Ohio last week, Trump openly discussed his refusal to reduce his daily aspirin dosage despite objections from his doctors.

“I take an aspirin every day. I don’t know if it’s good, but psychologically I need it. They said to me, ‘Sir, you don’t need that!’” Trump told his supporters.

He added: “I said, ‘Do me a favor. I’ve been fine for 35 years. Leave me alone.’”
