Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed concern that the United States could take further steps to ease sanctions imposed on Russia, following a decision by US President Donald Trump to suspend sanctions and trade tariffs that had been scheduled to take effect.

Zelenskyy said on Sunday that the US decision would benefit Moscow, warning that it could encourage Russia to continue its attacks on Ukraine.
The Ukrainian president said Russia targeted 15 major power generation and transmission facilities last Friday, describing the assault as one of the largest attacks on Ukraine’s energy network.
He added that easing sanctions could reduce economic pressure on Russia. Russian investment envoy Kirill Dmitriev welcomed the US decision, describing it as a significant development in economic relations between the two countries.
The remarks come amid growing disagreements between Washington and Kyiv over sanctions, military support and satellite communications used in Ukrainian operations.
These concerns and characterizations are attributed to the individuals who made them and do not constitute an independent assessment of the consequences of the US decision.
