The French presidency said Macron secured a commitment from the UAE to supply around 100,000 tonnes of diesel per month, while another 100,000 tonnes per month is expected to be pledged during his visit to Bahrain on Tuesday.
After including 95,000 tonnes per month already secured from Saudi Arabia for October and November, France will have secured total commitments for 295,000 tonnes of diesel per month, slightly more than 10% of the country’s diesel consumption, the Élysée said.
The Élysée added that the additional supplies are intended to ease pressure on energy markets and limit increases in fuel prices at filling stations.
