US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Monday urged Russia and Ukraine to focus on ending the war and reaching a negotiated settlement, stressing that Washington continues its diplomatic efforts to bring the conflict to an end as pressure grows on both sides to return to the negotiating table.

Rubio’s remarks come amid renewed US efforts to revive a diplomatic settlement, as US President Donald Trump’s administration believes ending the war requires an agreement between Moscow and Kyiv, despite continued disagreements over the terms of a settlement and the future of Ukrainian territory.
Regarding US support for Kyiv, Trump said the United States continues to share intelligence with Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in remarks published Sunday, said intelligence-sharing had resumed after a temporary suspension, indicating that cooperation was operational again.
US intelligence is considered highly important to Ukraine, helping its forces track Russian missiles heading toward Ukrainian cities and infrastructure and providing early warnings that allow preparations for attacks and help reduce casualties.
The developments come as Russia and Ukraine continue to exchange attacks. A Russian attack on Kyiv early Monday killed a woman and injured three people, according to the city’s mayor. A metro station, residential and non-residential buildings, and a medical facility were also damaged.
In earlier remarks, Rubio stressed that the war would not end with a decisive military victory for either side, arguing that the solution would likely come through a negotiated agreement. He also reaffirmed Washington’s readiness to continue mediation efforts, while warning that continued escalation could widen the conflict.
