A Grant Contract was signed by Mr. ASARI Hideki, Ambassador of Japan to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and Dr. Mohammad Al-Hadid, President of the Society, during the ceremony on February 5th 2026.
This grant assistance aims to improve the quality of emergency and ICU services provided at Jordan Red Crescent Hospital by procuring ICU beds and emergency medical equipment. Jordan Red Crescent Hospital has been receiving children from Gaza in need of medical treatment under the Royal initiative of His Majesty King Abdullah II. Through this grant, the Hospital will be able to increase its capacity to receive patients evacuated from Gaza as well as vulnerable populations within Jordan.
Since its establishment in 1947, the Hospital has played a significant role in providing medical services to underprivileged populations, including residents of Al-Wehdat Refugee Camp, located in the Hospital’s neighborhood.
During the signing ceremony, Ambassador Mr. ASARI expressed his gratitude to the Society’s great social contribution and stated: “It is within Japan’s policy to support the implementations of Royal initiatives for saving Gazan children. (The Jordanian National Red Crescent Society) has spared no effort in providing high quality and life-saving treatment to all its patients. Your team’s commitment and dedication are truly an inspiration to us all.”
In his response, President of Jordan Red Crescent Society, Dr. Mohammad Al-Hadid stated: “This initiative is a continuation of a long-standing and trusted partnership between the Jordan National Red Crescent Society and Japan, which dates back to the 1990s, when we had the honor of receiving Her Majesty the Empress at our Society and benefitting from the generous support of the Japanese people. Over the years, these successive grants have helped JNRCS strengthen its capacities and provide life‑saving medical services to the most vulnerable, enabling them to live in dignity, health and well‑being.”
Under Japanese Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects, Japan has extended more than 10.58 million US Dollars for 161 projects to non-governmental organizations, schools, hospitals, and local governments in Jordan since 1993.
