Speaking during the resumed 165th ordinary ministerial session of the Council of the League of Arab States, hosted by Jordan in Amman, Safadi stressed that strengthening Arab cooperation remains the most effective way to confront regional challenges.

He said this begins with ensuring the success of efforts aimed at restoring security and stability, as well as advancing the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran on foundations that address the causes of previous tensions and protect Arab states, particularly the Gulf countries.

Safadi emphasized that the Palestinian issue remains the central and foremost Arab cause, pointing to the humanitarian suffering in the Gaza Strip, ongoing Israeli measures aimed at annexing occupied Palestinian territories, the expansion of settlements, the escalation of settler violence, and attacks on Islamic and Christian holy sites.

He said these developments require coordinated Arab action to confront the challenges and safeguard the right of the peoples of the region to live in peace and security.

Safadi reiterated that lasting peace can only be achieved through the realization of the Palestinian people’s right to establish an independent and sovereign state on the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital, living in peace and security alongside Israel.

The foreign minister also reaffirmed Jordan’s full solidarity with Lebanon in the face of attacks on its territory, stressing the importance of adhering to the ceasefire and supporting the Lebanese government in its efforts to extend sovereignty over all Lebanese territory.

He further expressed support for Syria’s reconstruction process, emphasizing that it should be based on preserving the country’s unity and sovereignty while fulfilling the Syrian people’s aspiration to live in peace and security within a fully sovereign state.
