The Director of the Madaba Water Administration, Engineer Mufid Al-Lozi, stated that the €25 million grant recently approved by the Cabinet is part of an integrated project to expand the Madaba wastewater treatment plant and rehabilitate and expand the sewage networks, with a total value of €123 million.اضافة اعلان

He noted that the project's funding came following the Cabinet's approval last week of a €25 million grant agreement with the French Development Agency (AFD), provided by the European Union. The remaining cost of the project was covered through a €97 million loan from the French Development Agency (AFD) and the German Development Bank (KfW).

Al-Lozi added that the project includes expanding sewage networks in Madaba, expanding the treatment plant, and constructing transmission lines to utilize treated water for agricultural purposes.

He explained that implementation of the project will commence in the first quarter of next year and will continue for a duration of three years.

It is worth noting that the Madaba sanitation project is expected to serve approximately 200,000 people through the construction of a new plant with a capacity of 16,000 cubic meters per day for the governorate's wastewater treatment facility. This is in addition to expanding the sewage networks, rehabilitating the existing network, and promoting the reuse of treated water in restricted agriculture, which applies to specific crop varieties such as fodder.

The project aims to expand the wastewater collection system while ensuring environmental protection and maximizing reuse opportunities in order to alleviate pressure on natural resources for irrigation purposes.
