Jordan’s Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Ambassador Amjad Al-Odaila, participated in the second session of the ministerial meeting of the Arab-Indian Forum, held over two days in New Delhi, representing the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.

The meeting, organized by the Arab League Secretariat and attended by foreign ministers and representatives from Arab countries and the Republic of India, focused on enhancing political, economic, and cultural cooperation between the two sides, especially at a time requiring ongoing international dialogue to address various current issues and challenges through effective partnership.
In Jordan’s statement, Ambassador Al-Odaila emphasized the Kingdom’s keen interest in its relations with India and the mutual commitment to develop and strengthen them. He highlighted the recent visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Jordan, which gave new momentum to bilateral cooperation and opened wider avenues for economic and investment partnerships between the two countries.
He stressed Jordan’s commitment to continuing to enhance its bilateral relations with India across economic, trade, investment, tourism, and other vital sectors, noting that the economic dimension constitutes a key pillar of Jordanian-Indian relations.
On the political front, Al-Odaila welcomed India’s positions supporting justice and international law and reaffirmed Jordan’s steadfast support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to establish an independent and sovereign state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative. He also emphasized the importance of preserving the historical and legal status of Jerusalem and its holy sites, which is upheld through the Hashemite custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites.
He further highlighted Jordan’s support for the pivotal humanitarian role played by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in providing essential services to millions of Palestinian refugees, expressing appreciation for India’s continued financial and political support to the agency.
Regarding multilateral cooperation, Jordan affirmed that Arab-Indian cooperation is based on solid foundations of understanding and shared interests, aiming to strengthen constructive pathways that address challenges, harness opportunities, and leverage competitive advantages for mutual benefit.
On the sidelines of the meetings, Al-Odaila, as part of the Arab delegation of ministers and heads of Arab delegations, met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who reaffirmed India’s commitment to openness and enhanced cooperation with Arab countries and expressed a vision for a strong future in bilateral and multilateral relations with the Arab world.
Another meeting was held with India’s Minister of External Affairs, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, who led the Indian delegation at the Arab-Indian Cooperation Forum ministerial meeting.
At the conclusion of the second session of the ministerial meeting, the joint final statement and the executive program of the Arab-Indian Cooperation Forum for 2026-2028 were issued.
